The final scavenger approaches to finish him, but the cyborg grabs the power module he found earlier and forcefully locks it into the exposed socket in his chest. For a brief moment nothing happens, then powerful blue energy surges through his damaged body, his eye burns bright, and he catches the descending blade with his remaining hand before defeating the attacker. Silence returns. A faint electronic distress signal begins beeping beneath a collapsed slab nearby. The cyborg follows it, pulls away the rubble, and discovers another severely damaged cyborg buried underneath, the exact same model and facial structure as himself. The buried cyborg’s blue eye slowly powers on, looks directly at him, and weakly says, “Unit 02... why did you leave us?” The protagonist freezes as a split-second fragmented memory flashes through his vision showing dozens of identical cyborgs standing together before the apocalypse.
